The Photography 101 Workbook is a fun, hands-on six-week photography course designed for students to complete independently at home. No separate class or workshop is required! Students can work through the lessons at their own pace while using their own camera to practice what they learn.
The workbook introduces students to the foundations of photography through easy-to-understand lessons, creative activities, and real-world photo challenges. Rather than simply reading about photography, students are encouraged to pick up their camera, experiment, and apply each new skill.
Throughout the course, students explore important photography concepts including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, composition, lighting, motion, portraits, and visual storytelling. Guided activities and photo challenges help students develop technical camera skills while encouraging creativity, observation, problem-solving, and artistic expression.
Students will learn how to make intentional choices behind the camera, experiment with different techniques, evaluate their photographs, and develop their own creative style.
Students will explore:
- Camera basics and the exposure triangle
- Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO
- Rule of Thirds, leading lines, framing, and composition
- Working with front light, side light, and backlight
- Freezing motion and creating intentional motion blur
- Portrait photography

The Photography 101 Workbook can be used as a six-week homeschool photography course, enrichment activity, elective, or independent creative study. Students can complete approximately one section each week or move through the course at a pace that works best for their family.
By the end of the course, students will have gained a stronger understanding of how their camera works, practiced essential photography techniques, and created a collection of photographs that demonstrates their growth and creativity.
No previous photography experience is required. You only need a camera, curiosity, and a willingness to create!

Give your student the opportunity to learn photography through hands-on instruction and real-world practice in this fun and engaging 6-Week Photography Workshop!
Designed for beginning photographers, this in-person workshop teaches students how to move beyond simply taking pictures and begin making intentional, creative photographs. Each week, students learn a new photography skill, practice it alongside their instructor, and then put what they've learned into action through guided photo challenges.
What Students Will Learn
Throughout the six weeks, students will explore:
- Aperture, Shutter Speed & ISO — understanding the Exposure Triangle and how camera settings work together
- Composition — Rule of Thirds, leading lines, framing, perspective, and creating stronger images
- Light — learning to recognize and photograph with front light, side light, and backlight
- Motion — freezing action and experimenting with intentional motion blur
- Portrait Photography — creating more interesting and flattering portraits
- Visual Storytelling — using photographs to communicate a story, feeling, or idea
Students will spend time actively photographing during each workshop, giving them the opportunity to immediately practice what they're learning. They'll be encouraged to experiment, ask questions, try new techniques, and develop their own creative style.
Photography 101 Workbook Included
Each student receives a Photography 101 Workbook to use throughout the six-week workshop. The workbook reinforces the concepts taught during class and includes photography tips, activities, photo challenges, and opportunities to continue practicing between sessions.
Small-Group, Hands-On Learning
Classes are intentionally kept small so students receive individual attention and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and work directly with their instructor.
This isn't a class where students simply sit and listen. We learn photography by taking photographs!
Students should bring a camera they can use during the workshop. No previous photography experience is necessary.

Family Photo Session Photography Lesson, $250
Step behind the camera and into a real client session! In this hands-on class, students receive personalized, one-on-one instruction while learning the art of on-location photography in a live setting.
You’ll gain practical experience directing, posing, and working with natural light—all while photographing your own family. This unique approach allows you to build confidence and sharpen your skills in a fun, supportive environment.
